The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has announced the April deployment of the first group of 15 field representatives. According the Study in the States website, SEVP field representatives will:

1. Ensure SEVP-certified schools understand SEVP rules and regulations
2. Answer general questions related to the non-immigrant student process
3. Provide training and assistance to principal designated school officials and designated school officials
4. Meet in-person with each SEVP-certified school in their geographical area at least twice per year
5. Help school officials with the SEVP certification and recertification processes by conducting scheduled school site visits
6. Attend conferences and meetings in their areas that pertain to non-immigrant students
